Filled 16th TSHL vacancy, October 17, 2016.
to represent the Panhandle

Bobette Doerrie taught over 40 years, primarily science, from antsy junior high students to focused university students. Her M.Ed. from DePaul University in reading and learning disabilities prepared her to interact with people of all ages and abilities, which has come in handy. Most of her teaching years included coaching competitive teams in problem-solving challenges. She is married to Jerome Doerrie (a retired farmer and teacher and Chair of the Utilities and Natural Resources Committee) and they have six children between them, twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is now Secretary for TSHL, and she has learned it is an entirely different position than being secretary for the Starcreek Astronomical Society, Perryton Area Retired Teachers, the TX-OK Panhandle Genealogy Society, or the Top of the Panhandle Amateur Radio Club. She also was a founder for the Ochiltree Blood Council, on library board and museum board, an active church member, and she is very interested in responding to the needs of older Texans.
