Bonnie Andrews

Bonnie Faye Cole Andrews was the first of seven children born to James (Jack) Calvin Cole and Azzie Lee Rose Cole in Jefferson, Texas. The family moved to Houston, Texas, when she was one year old. The family relocated to Jefferson when she was twelve years of age.  She and her siblings loved country living.

Bonnie is married to Claude Andrews and they are the proud parents of two adult children and grandparents to their eight heart beats (six granddaughters and 2 grandsons). They live in Marshall, Texas, and attend the Grand Way Church of Christ.

Bonnie loves sports, traveling, shopping and meeting new people and family gatherings. She loves being able to help enrich the lives of others through community service. Working with Meals on Wheels has enabled her to do this on a broader scale.

Bonnie attended Nat Q. Henderson Elementary School in Houston, Texas, and after relocating to Jefferson she attended Smithland Elementary School and Central High School. She graduated from Central High in the class of 1964. She graduated in the top ten percent of her class. She attended Texas Southern University for two years and return home to help with her father who was suffering with a crippling form of arthritis.

Bonnie began her working career as a Teacher’s Aide at Smithland Elementary where she worked for two years. She then went on to work for Thiokol Corporation (Longhorn Division) in Karnack, Texas, as a line worker.  She rose through the ranks of the company by taking advantage of the companies’ continuing education opportunities and received numerous promotions including but not limited to Safety Inspector and Safety Engineer in industrial settings.

She worked for Thiokol for thirty years being one of the last employees of the plant prior to its closing. Her next career move was employment with the Marshall Independent School District, first as a campus secretary and then as a PEIMS Facilitator for seventeen years. Bonnie retired from the school district in 2012 after a very rewarding career.

Bonnie then began volunteering with Meals on Wheels and remains there now as the Program Manager for Camp, Harrison, Marion and Panola Counties.
