Debbie Milner

After retirement (I mention that lightly) in 2018, I moved to Dripping Springs, Texas from Louisiana to be near my grandkids.  I have always been extremely interested in the actual “mechanics” of politics!  In 2019, I was invited into the prestigious organization of the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature; of course, I readily accepted.

While at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA, I received both my B.A. in English/Speech and M.Ed. in Guidance/Counseling.  Later, I received additional credentials for Administration/Supervision.

There were two parts to my career:

Phase 1… Education as a teacher, Counselor, and Administrator.  I also worked at the State Department of Education in Teacher certification and Adult Education.  Part of my focus at the State Department was to mentor and to assist new teachers in their various roles.

Phase 2… Educational textbook sales as a representative, Territory Manager, and Vice-President. Working with several publishing companies, I traveled a great deal across the country.  I had the privilege of getting to know and work with many school districts in multiple states.  I have to say, I have enjoyed both careers equally.

Presently, I am on the board for Friends of the Dripping Springs Library; obviously, books have always been my “first love”!

I look forward to being a part of the TSHL organization and serving the senior population of the great State of Texas!
