Her clinical practice was mainly in small urban and rural hospitals where she was the sole anesthesia provider. She is proficient in general and regional anesthesia for surgery and obstetrics.

Dr. Sanders was on the Board of Directors for the Council on Accreditation of Nurse anesthesia Programs for six years (2011-2017) serving as Vice President, President, and Treasurer. Currently, she is a consultant to several universities seeking to start nurse anesthesia programs. She also reviews documents for nurse anesthesia programs prior to their accreditation reviews and performs quality reviews for universities.

She is active in several professional organizations: Chair of Task Force Alpha (organization of past presidents of the Texas Association of Nurse Anesthesiologists) and is an advisor to the BOD on legislative issues, formerly on the Texas Nurses Association’s (TNA’s) APRN Regulation and Practice Authority Committee (2012-2022), and TNA’s Advance Nurse Practice Committee (1992-2003).

Dr. Sanders volunteered spring 2021 for Texas Health in a community clinic giving COVID vaccines and fall 2021 volunteering for THFW in their Employee Health Service. In this role she tested employees for COVID, performed Annual Assessments, and N95 mask fits.

Service on several board of directors (BOD) and committees is on her calendar. She is on the BOD and is Treasurer for Our Hearts Your Hands (OHYH), an organization that raises funds to support nurse anesthetists in other countries who wish to further their education. She is on the Tarrant County Community in Schools (CIS) BOD and serves United Way on their Women United committee. She is active in her church (vestry, altar guild, lay reader, and prayer team).
