Ruth Edna Bowling, 91, of Richardson, Texas passed away on March 12, 2020 in Wylie, Texas. The world lost the million dollar smile of Ruth.
She was born on July 28, 1928 to Robert Ashley Bishop and Ruth Blackley Bishop in Fulton, New York. She married Elmer Earl Bowling in Hernando, Mississippi. She was a House Parent for Buckner Baptist Childrenâ€™s Home for 10 years. She worked for Ericsson as an Office Administrator. Ruth proudly served as a Texas Silver Haired Legislature for 10 terms. She also served as a National Silver Haired Congresswoman for the same timeframe. Ruth will forever be remembered as being ‘on the other side’ no matter which political party was in power. Ruth’s favorite thing to do was to talk, about anything.
At the age of 60, Ruth returned to college, she achieved sophomore status with a 4.0 Grade Point Average.
At First Baptist Church of Richardson, Ruth was into everything from exercise class to Bible Studies to country and western line dancing.
Ruth is survived by her son Bret Bowling and his wife Alice of Rowlett, Texas, nieces Tamara Bishop of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Jennifer Olinde and her husband Keith of Zachary, Louisiana.
